Divisions of the Corporation


Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire and Rescue Inc. is an umbrella corporation which oversees and performs the official business of the four (4) primary divisions of the organization. Each of these divisions provides a different service to our community. All Organization-wide decisions are made through the Board of Directors (BOD).

Division of Fire Services (Fire Department):


The Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire Department provides 24/7/365 on-call service to Lake Monticello, and Surrounding Fluvanna County. It is staffed with released, active firefighters, who have successfully completed the NFPA programs under Virginia State Curriculum for Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and Haz-Mat Awareness. The Fire Department is a five apparatus company, with Two Engines, One Ladder Truck, One Tanker, and One Brush Truck. They also have a Chief's Car, which is used for administrative purposes. Division of Emergency Medical Services (Rescue Squad):


The Lake Monticello Volunteer Rescue Squad provides 24/7/365 service to Lake Monticello, and is under Mutual Aid contract with surrounding Fluvanna County, and acts as First Due unit for the county during the weekdays (0600-1800). There are over 80 certified EMS personnel who have completed the U.S. DOT requirements for certification as a Emergency Medical Technician - Basic. They operate in one of 12 shifts, with rotating Saturday shifts. The Lake Monticello Volunteer Rescue Squad is an Accredited Advanced Life Support Agency with VAVRS and OEMS. They operate under the Thomas Jefferson EMS Council (TJEMS), and provide excellent and progressively advancing patient care.

Division of Water Rescue Services (Water Rescue Team):


The Lake Monticello Water Rescue Team provides 24/7/365 on-call service to Fluvanna County, and the surrounding region, including several neighboring counties, for rescue calls of a water related nature. The water rescue team has 30+ active members, and many associate members, and have several specialists in the areas of dive rescue, swift water rescue, tactical rescue, and ropes rescue. They are a very active unit, with bi-monthly training, and several hundred calls to service each year.
