Lake Monticello Water Rescue and Dive Team (LMWRT) is an all-volunteer organization based out of the Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc., Station 5, working in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Emergency Services and the Virginia State Sheriff's Department. Since 1987, LMWRT has been responding to water emergencies within Fluvanna and Albemarle County as well as the entire commonwealth of Virginia and surrounding states. LMWRT members are trained in swiftwater rescue, SCUBA, ice rescue; high and low angle rope rescues, underwater crime scene investigation, underwater vehicle recovery and boat handling. LMWRT is proud of the high level of training its staff has achieved. Team members include Scuba instructors, Master Scuba Divers, Rope Rescue Technicians, Swiftwater Rescue Technicians, Medics, as well as EMTs, Firefighters, and Emergency Vehicle Operators.
